Objective To study the clinical significance of semiquantitative determination of the brain balance of patients suffered from chronic insomnia. Methods A retrospective study of 94 patients suffered from chronic insomnia was made to investigate the semiquantitative determination of the brain balance. Results The brain balance of patients suffered from chronic insomnia was found to be significantly diminished which greatly relates to age, course of disease, and risk factors of cerebrovascular diseases. Conclusions Diminishment of brain balance of patients suffered from chronic insomnia was detected and it is characterized by diminishment of senior function of the brain including neurasthenic. So an overall treatment including antianxiety, antidepression, sedative, as well as brain health care is necessary.
